Have you ever played System Shock 2? Do you remember the Many, the horrid organic hive mind thing enemies?
Well guess what.
They've arrived.
(Consider 'horrid organic' a content warning, by the way.)

I'm still here! :D Sorry I've been so out of contact lately--between real-life chaos and my unfortunate habit of just sort of...drifting away from the Internet, I haven't really been able to keep up. I'm genuinely sorry--I really am not good at keeping in contact with people.
A situation that has been exacerbated by MSN's habit of allowing me in or not pretty much at random. Yay. :/ I've been logging in, when I can, but between technical difficulties and having rather bad luck when it comes to intercepting others...yeah. >_>
So...fill me in! Let me know, in the comments of this post (which will be emailed to me), what exactly it is I've missed since the last time I dropped off the radar. I'm somehow sure there's some duty or other I've been neglecting, so slap me with a fish and tell me about it so I can get back into the swing of things ^_^
While I am here, I may as well deposit some yummy links like alien eggs in your torso:
The Clockwork Insects
There Are Monsters
Magic Show Volunteer
The Black Oven
Where Will You Go
The Best Fanfiction Ever
The Freakshow
On a completely different note, I have the Windows 7 Release Candidate, and it owns. :D I like it very much better than XP, and every game I've tried so far that ran well in XP also runs well in 7 (albeit with the occasional need to use compatibility modes), even a few that didn't work in the earlier beta. So...yay. ^_^

Hullo. Yup, still here, still fabulous, and still horrendously insane. :) Sorry I haven't been checking in too often lately--the ravening beast known as real life has been all up in me like Pyramid Head. But I persevere, because there will always be evil and madness.
On a related note, might I recommend that you all do yourselves a favor and search on Google for the name "Zalgo".
Go on. I'll wait.
Behind the walls.

| When Real Life Attacks |
[28 Feb 2009|10:58pm] |
[For something approaching six months, the machines have been silent, the lights unlit, the statues unadmired. The maintenance robots, clockworkish things like feral angels rendered in brass and crystal, have for these past six months gone about their business with no living eye to see, no living voice to thank them for their tireless service.
Suddenly, the relative stillness is shattered as the imposing, sculpted main door, unmoved for half a year yet still functioning perfectly thanks to the loyal robots, rumbles open for the first time in too long...opening as quickly as its bulk allows, as if eager to admit after so long the master of the manse.
The royal blue gargoyle looks about, his keen eyes drinking in the long-missed ambience of his gothic mansion. The house's computer system, sensing his long-awaited return, boots brightly to life, the Project OS login screen staring eagerly as if desperate for the reassuring contact of his username and password.
As if accepting the embrace of an old friend, he settles into the cushy chair at the computer terminal, gladly logging in and activating the webcam...]
September? I last posted here in freaking SEPTEMBER?! Well. That won't do, not at all. How stupid of me to forget my friends and my fans (all two of you). I really ought to at least check in once a month, regardless of whether I have anything substantive to post.
Ah! In related news, guess who got the Windows 7 beta. ^_^ It required a bit of fiddling, betas being what they are, but I got it up and running. And my, what an improvement over XP...smoother, more responsive, more visually slick, and ye gods I never realized how much I hated XP's updater until I used 7's. Game compatibility has gone down a bit, but I expect that will be taken care of by the time the final release hits.
Right, MS? (I'm sharpening my knife, kupo!)
Oh, and 4:3 games finally have the right aspect ratio on my 16:10 monitor instead of being stretched. :D Took them long enough.
And now, my usual dose of the bizarre and disturbing for you:
The Phone. What is it? Why is it?
Punch, Brothers! Or, as I have come to think of it, Mark Twain's The Ring.
PuLiRuLa. It cannot be described. Just watch it, and hope you survive it.
The Song Of The Count. Those poor spiders.
Mister Sandman! I would rather you didn't dream me that particular dream. O_o
Starfish Hitler. It's Japan. I've given up asking why.

| Still Alive |
[13 Sep 2008|08:53pm] |
It's been forever I'm making a note here--HUGE PROTEST It's hard to overstate my consternation
What's with this LJ? Has Wilek gone to the moon, or Mars?
...
OK, that's enough of that, I don't know how to do lyrics. -_- Suffice it to say that, yes, I'm still here. Took me long enough, between real life crap and online crap (haven't even found the time to read my LJ friends page in quite a while), but I am still the master of this dark place, however long it may slumber--and however difficult it may be to reestablish access.
Among the many, many contributing factors to my near-total vanishing from the Internet was the fact that the Ubuntu installer chose to destroy my iMac's hard disk when I foolishly attempted to give Ubuntu its own little nook alongside OSX and XP. And how is that for gratitude. If it weren't for the magic of Time Machine and Migration Assistant, much of the population of the East Coast would be reduced to puddles of screaming glop and I'd be in Arkham Asylum roaring about being the prophet of the Beast Standing On The Crossed Swords, come to build a cathedral with the skulls of all mankind in the Decrescendo Enfolding. As the matter stands, I have settled for using the Ubuntu CDR as a coaster. The encrustation of comestible remnants 'pon its befouled bits and bytes for all eternity should provide ample punishment. Should I locate the original perpetrator of Linux, I shall miss no opportunity to chew on his head until he is sad.
Well, whatever. In what is sure to be an ineffectual attempt to apologize for my eons of absence, I present to you a selection of Internet sites culled from, uhh, the Internet (OK, mostly YouTube), some of which will as usual consist of awesome music. Do be sure to leave a tip, if you're not too frightened of what's holding the jar.
Schwarzer Sarg, by the Japanese metal(?) band Yousei Teikoku.
4 O'Clock by Emilie Autumn. A creepy little lament of insomnia, with sort of an "industrial meets Tim Burton" sound.
Wow. And I thought I was bad with lyrics.
Yes, Jolonah, There Is A Hell. And it's rather more awesome than fire and brimstone.
The Angry German Kid Vs. GLaDOS. Very formal. Very official.
Harry Potter and the Wizard Swears. BLAST-ENDED SKANK
Homestar Runner vs Salad Fingers. As if Salad Fingers weren't creepy enough in his own universe.
Slaughter Your World. A chap after my own heart, really.
Gman Is Creepy. Yes. Yes he is.
And finally, the butterfly is obviously Satan.

Do you know what would be the best thing ever if it weren't obviously fake?
Either this, or this. Perhaps this? I simply cannot decide.
*sigh*

Have you ever seen something so out of left field that it took you a long time to realize what you actually saw, simply because it was so out there that you had no idea how to parse it?
Well, you're about to.
